Life As a Local!!

WooHoo!! Today in class they told us everything we need to know about life in DC. We live at a place called the Barlow Center, which is also home to the church international office and public relations. They said many influential people visit every day, and sometimes even members of the twelve or first presidency! The basement of our home is where the DC singles branch meets for FHE and activites, so that's pretty sweet! George Washington University is literally next door, and they have "adopted" us. Seminar students has free access to their gym and library. Having a nice gym within walking distance that is FREE is going to be such a blessing!! They also include us in their security program, which means 24/7 protection for us while we're at home. Also...free laundry! Which is awesome. But...we all share a kitchen. All 20 something students share a kitchen. That's going to be an adventure.
We also get to go to Valley Forge and stay at the Freedoms Foundation campus! I'm so excited to be able to go back because it is beautiful! Freedoms Foundation is one of my favorite things I did in high school. Also a little shout out to Monica Hawkes. It's not gonna be the same without you! We had so much fun!
The best part is that we'll get invited to all sorts of benefits, fundraisers, and receptions as part of Capitol Hill.
An update: I didn't get the Chaffetz internship, but that's okay because it was only the first one! I have an interview on Friday with the American Action Forum. I'm excited but I really want a congressional internship so keep your fingers crossed!!
It's crazy but I'm the youngest one in the group! A lot of students going are graduating and worrying about capstone research and whatnot. I feel a little out of place because I have a while before I graduate, but I'm going to learn a lot from them. My roommate is a girl named Susannah. I haven't talked to her much, but she seems really nice!
